What is Reciprocal Borrowing?
Reciprocal borrowing is an agreement between libraries: their students can borrow from the Champlain College library, and our students can borrow from their libraries! All you need is your Champlain ID card, and you can borrow from the University of Vermont Howe Library and St. Michaels Durick Library.
Then, of course, there is the local Fletcher Free Library. In order to check out a book here, you will need to set up a library card.

Still can’t find what you are looking for?
While there are many resources available through the three libraries combined, they don’t have everything. But don’t fret! There is still a way to get a hold of your desired book. This is through the interlibrary loan (ILL). If you are unfamiliar with an interlibrary loan, all that it is is a service that allows our library to borrow books, journal articles, etc from other libraries. All you have to do is submit a loan request form, and we will work to obtain the item. If this is material that is needed within a certain time frame, try to submit the form as early as possible. You will be contacted when the item is available for you to pick up.
- Expect 1-2 weeks of processing for a book
- Expect 1-7 days of processing for an article
- You may request up to five items per day
